Becoming a Christian

F IS FOR “FORGIVENESS”

We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God’s forgiveness.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace. -Ephesians 1:7

AIS FOR “AVAILABLE”

Forgiveness is available. It is available for all, but not automatic.

For God so loved the world He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16

I IS FOR “IMPOSSIBLE”

It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven, because of who He is (God is loving and just and His judgment is against sin) and because of who we are (Every person is a sinner).

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. -Romans 3:23

TIS FOR “TURN”

Turn means repent. Turn from sin and self. Turn to Christ alone.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. -Luke 13:3

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. -Romans 10:9

HIS FOR “HEAVEN”

Heaven is eternal life.

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. -John 10:10b

So, how can a person have God’s forgiveness, receive Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, and spend eternity with Him in heaven? By trusting in Christ and asking Him for forgiveness. If you’ve never asked Christ into your heart and accepted His gift of forgiveness, a sample prayer follows.

Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe thatprayer.jpg You died for my sin and only through faith in Your death and resurrection can I be forgiven. I want to turn from my sin and ask You to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen.

If that was your genuine prayer, we encourage you to unite with a local church and follow Jesus’ example in believers’ baptism so you can grow and prosper in your faith with a family of other believers in Christ.
